some nice things people have said ...

"Raw and unhinged punk in the vein of such legendary heroes as the Sex Pistols ... THE CHERRY REDS are punk-rock heroes for the young UK generation"

* 'Incoming' new bands feature, METAL HAMMER, August 2006

"Original, punky punk rock n' roll"

* Boy Hero CD review, BIG CHEESE, July 2006

"This is violently affecting rock & roll - riddled with passion – with no concessions to fashion. I’d (almost) given up on the prospect of hearing a British group deliver Punk Rock urgency of this calibre again convincingly. “Boy Hero” maintains the pressure throughout with its fluidity, insistent melodies, chant-drenched choruses & stunning guitars.

“Boy Hero” marks The Cherry Reds imminent promotion to the Doctor Martin’s Premier League of Punk rock & roll. Go get a copy. What the fuck? Get a pair. Lace ‘em up & watch ‘em stomp all over the competition. They’ll kick your head in, them Cherry Reds."

"The CHERRY REDS are one of London's finest punk groups - & the 'Concrete & Clay EP' only further cements there claim to the throne vacated by The Clash way back when. This is fucking excellent [...] the Cherry Reds deserve to be heard and loved by you all"

* Concrete & Clay EP review, from www.trakmarx.com webzine

"The CHERRY REDS remind me of the Adverts. Which, as anyone familiar with the Adverts will tell you, is no small compliment. Their 'Concrete & Cl;ay EP' is a short and swooningly sweet statement of intent from four Dickensian pop-punks. 'Two Dollar Rebel Song' is very heaven, a glorious rush of knife-edge guitar [...] the half-sung, half-spat vocals are a highlight throughout."

* Concrete & Clay EP review, from www.damnpest.co.uk

"The CHERRY REDS have it all in spades - the power of The Clash, the angular anger of early Theatre of Hate, the moral conviction of Crass and the backing vocals of your average football crowd.

[...] I don't stick my head up above trench level and shout '"The New Clash" quite as often as some periodicals [...] but the Cherry Reds & 'Cry Havoc' particularly, is the fucking business MAKE. NO. MISTAKE"

* Cry Havoc EP review, from www.trakmarx.com webzine

"I've always found the dissociation between 'old' and 'new' school punk rock a pretty pointless one [...] when bands like the CHERRY REDS straddle eras so effortlessly.

I'd describe the Cherry Reds as Culture Shock meets Carter USM, but there's far more invention present with machete guitar lines reminiscent of an early Manics minus the lip gloss. Make no mistake; there are some excellent tunes here."

*Against the Wall EP review, from www.pUnKnews.org.uk

"THE CHERRY REDS ... play tuneful well written guitar punk. The band has a great sound that really puts the tunes across. Dan's vocals are really cool. One of the best punk bands around"

* 'Cherry Reds v/s Egon Spengler' review, from SHREDDING PAPER zine, USA, Sumer '99'

"THE CHERRY REDS ... prove to be the other highlight. Bratty, rough and pretty frantic at times, somewhere in between Suburban Studs & TVPs, I guess. Fantastically under-produced & sounding like they couldn't give a fuck about it either!!"

* British Punk Invasion Vol. VI review, from SCANNER, No.9

THE CHERRY REDS ... are first up and weigh in with with four tracks that really catch you by the throat, this band have got the snottiest vocalist that i've heard in a long time, and I mean that as a compliment, each song is an instant winner and all without coming across lke the latest US thing, very Brit sounding, maybe with a tinge of a Bladder Bladder Bladder sound to them, great stuff.

* 'Cherry Reds v/s Egon Spengler' review, from UNNATURAL EXPOSURE zine, Scotland

"THE CHERRY REDS ... were pretty cool with a kind of 70's style punk vibe, plenty of jumping around, spikey haircuts, doctor martins, you get the picture, drawing their influences from the Pistols and the Clash, they were tight and welll rehearsed with great vocal harmonies, some good songs and overall very interesting."

* Gig review @ the Railway Inn, Birmingham

THE CHERRY REDS sound like they've just jumped out the early 80's on their '70's Boy' with it's punchy 3 chord chorus. They then change decades and direction and come out with the moddish but blindingly good 'Summer In The City' that should be a big hit this summer in the Top Twenty .. but who am I kidding in this age of hype and shite. They then switch gear yet again with '4 Walls' that has the sometimes-laughable-vocal-harmonies-that-make-yer-sick-to-gut, but no these actually work. The Cherry Reds sure ain't a band you could call one dimensional, and they give a fresh approach to this thing we call punk which is great to hear in this day and age. Next track, the pharmaceutically approved 'Pheremone Junkie', boasts another beefy chorus in keeping with their sort of sound 60's/70's sound. They end their pounding set with the crafty cockney vocals of 'Lah De Dah's' that sounds like it came out of some swinging sixties movie. Great new band!!!

AS THEY ONCE summed it up, "This is the second song, for those of you who can count. And if you can't count, you should be in the Cherry Reds."
